Difference Between Synastry And Composite Horoscope
Difference Between Synastry And Composite Horoscope
In working with relationships in astrology, two main methods are used: synastry and composite horoscope. Although both techniques deal with the interaction of two people, their purpose and method of analysis differ significantly.
Synastry Synastry
is based on the comparison of two natal horoscopes. It shows how one horoscope affects another, ie. in which places the planets and points of one horoscope are in relation to the planets and houses of another. The result is insights into mutual reactions: where there is attraction, where support is felt, and where conflicts arise.
Synastry is about mutual experience: how person A sees person B, how person B feels next to person A. Composite horoscope Composite is not a comparison, but a merger. It is calculated using the midpoints between the planets and the angles of both horoscopes.
The result is not an “A versus B card”, but a new card that symbolizes the relationship itself as a third entity.
The composite shows common patterns: how two people function when they are together, what dynamics they spontaneously create, what unconscious themes their relationship opens up. It does not describe individuals, but the structure of the relationship itself.
The key difference
of Synastry: the focus on the interaction between two people. Composite: focus on the relationship as a separate unit. In a psychoastrological sense, synastry helps us understand the projections and reactions that arise in contact with another person, while the composite goes a step further and describes the “psychic being of the relationship”, i.e. unconscious patterns that the relationship creates and that both partners go through.
