Jung’s Framework and Composite Horoscope

Carl Gustav Jung believed that in every relationship not only two egos meet, but also their unconscious content. When two people meet, the process of projection starts – the unconscious parts of one personality are perceived as belonging to the other. This is why relationships often feel a strong attraction or resistance that goes beyond real reasons.

Jung pointed out that in every meeting something else is created – a common field that is not the property of any individual. That “third” can be understood as an unconscious relationship dynamic, or as an independent psychic reality that connects two people.

Astrologically speaking, the composite horoscope represents this third reality. He describes neither individual A nor individual B, but the energy of the relationship that arises from their encounter. This energy works independently: sometimes people feel that they “act differently” when they are together than when they are apart.

It is the manifestation of the third entity that the composite symbolizes. In psychoastrology, the composite can be understood as a symbolic representation of the collective unconscious.

It shows:
-which projections are activated in the relationship,
-which archetypal themes the relationship brings to life,
-in which direction the relationship encourages the psychological development of the partner.

Jung’s idea that relationships have their own dynamics allows the composite horoscope to be viewed not as a technical exercise, but as a psychological model. He reminds that a relationship is not just a sum of characters, but an autonomous process that both participants go through and that requires their conscious participation.
