Introduction to Composite Horoscope
Composite horoscope is a special technique in astrology used to understand the nature of relationship between two people. Unlike the natal horoscope, which represents the psychological structure of the individual, the composite refers to the “third entity” that arises when two people connect. This third entity can be seen as a symbolic organism of relationships, with its own dynamics, strengths and challenges.
The basis of the method is a mathematical procedure. For each planet and important horoscope point (Ascendant, Medium Coeli, Descendent, Imum Coeli) the middle point between the positions from two individual horoscopes is taken. For example, if one person has the Sun at 10° Aries and the other at 10° Gemini, the composite Sun will be placed at 10° Taurus – right in the middle between the two positions. All other planets and angles are calculated in the same way. When all the data is collected, a new card is obtained – the relationship horoscope.
The goal of the composite is not to predict the outcome of the relationship, but to provide insight into the very nature of the relationship. It describes:
– how two people experience themselves together,
– what patterns of behavior spontaneously arise when they are in contact,
– where tensions and conflicts arise,
– where there is potential for cooperation and development.
In a psychoastrological framework, based on Jung’s analytical psychology, the composite can be understood as a map of projections and unconscious patterns that are activated in close relationships. He does not just talk about “compatibility” in the usual sense, but rather shows what purpose the relationship has in the psychological development of both partners.
In this way, the composite horoscope becomes a tool for self-understanding and dialogue. He shows that relationships are not reduced to the sum of two characters, but create a new dynamic that has its own logic and laws.
